Sky Traffic with Stefan Heidenreich and Deborah Ligorio [The Eponym], Universität der Künste, Berlin, DE, curated by Boaz Levin and Vera Tollmann, as part of Research Center for Proxy Politics
Throughout the centuries, from Aristotle to Copernicus, from Galileo to Kepler, and right up to today's astronomers and their photographic mappings, our understanding of the universe has continuously expanded. At the same time, our view is constantly being redefined by the increasing availability of ever-higher-resolution lenses. It is a “denatured vision”, writes Joseph Vogl.
This workshop consists of two parts. It begins with a 20-minute CosmoMeditation, guided by artist Deborah Ligorio, using breathing and visualisation techniques to follow the rhythms, routines and rotations of bodily orbits and planetary flows, with a focus on the apparatuses that measure them.
The meditation will be followed by a pop-up observatory session. Writer and media theorist Stefan Heidenreich will introduce us to heavenly matters, including human and nonhuman satellites, with the friendly support of Heavens Above.
